This tour is ideally suited for those that would prefer to see the sights of Egypt whilst staying in hotels, rather than from a Nile cruise. This private journey begins in Cairo with visits to the museum and Great Pyramid before flying to Luxor to see the famous Valley of the Kings. Continue south to Aswan by private car, visiting the temple complexes at Edfu and Kom Ombo en route.

Itinerary...

Day 1 To Cairo: Fly from London to Cairo with British Airways. Transfer to Le Méridien Pyramids for 2 nights. (N)

Day 2 Cairo: Morning tour of Giza to see the Pyramids and the Sphinx. Afternoon visit to the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities. (B)

Day 3 To Luxor: Early morning fl ight to Luxor. Stay at the Sheraton Luxor Resort for 3 nights. (B)

Day 4 Luxor: Morning visit to the Valley of the Kings, the Valley of the Queens, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. (B)

Day 5 Luxor: Morning visit to the Temples of Karnak and Luxor. (B)

Day 6 To Aswan: Drive to Edfu, to visit the Temple of Horus, and Kom Ombo, to see the Temple of Sobek and Haroeris. Continue to Aswan and stay at the Basma Hotel for 3 nights. (B)

Day 7 Aswan: Visit the Aswan High Dam, the Unfi nished Obelisk and the Temple of Philae. (B)

Day 8 Aswan: Day at leisure. (B)

Day 9 To Cairo: Fly to Cairo and stay overnight at Le Méridien Heliopolis. (B)

Day 10 To London: Morning transfer to the airport. Fly from Cairo to London with British Airways. (B)

Hotel details...

Basma Hotel, Aswan Located on Aswan’s highest hill with good views over the city and the Nile, and only a short walk from the Corniche and the Nubian Museum, the Basma hotel has 189 rooms and suites, all with air-conditioning and a small balcony. The hotel restaurant serves a range of international cuisines and there are several outdoor terraced areas, a large outdoor swimming pool and small selection of shops.
Le Meridien Pyramids, Cairo Le Meridien Pyramids is located in Giza overlooking the Pyramids. The comfortable and spacious rooms all have a small balcony with either a city or Pyramids view. There are a variety of international restaurants and bars to choose from and live entertainment every evening. Additionally there is a fitness centre, a large outdoor swimming pool, games rooms, 24 hour money change facilities, ATM machines and a selection of small shops. Due to the layout of the hotel and the location of the rooms, Pyramid View rooms at the property may not provide a completely unobstructed view of the Pyramids. The hotel is undertaking it's second phase of foundation building work for a new extension from early December 2007, until the end of February 2008. Precautions are being taken in order to minimise the impact on guests.
Sheraton Luxor Resort, Luxor The Sheraton Luxor Resort enjoys an excellent location on the banks of the Nile, and within walking distance of the Luxor Temple. Built on eight acres of land with shady palm trees on one side, and the Nile on the other, the hotel boasts a total of 290 guest rooms and suites. There are 2 swimming pools, one which overlooks the Nile, various restaurants, a bank and a selection of shops. The hotel will be renovating all the rooms in the main building including suites, new club lounge, hotel terrace and main gate, from 1st May to 31st December 2008. The bungalow rooms, new swimming pool, bars and restaurants will be fully operational during this time.
Le Meridien Heliopolis, Cairo Conveniently located just 3km from Cairo International airport in the Heliopolis area of the city, Le Méridien Heliopolis is a modern, eight-storey property. In a prime location, it is just 10km from the city centre and provides easy access to the places like Coptic Cairo, the Egyptian Museum, Khan el Khalili Bazaar, Pharaonic Village and the Pyramids of Giza. The 283 modern, well-equipped guestrooms offer views of the city, pool or terrace and include facilities such as air-conditioning, satellite TV, telephone and mini bar. Le Royal Club guest rooms feature personalised butler service and use of Le Royal Club Lounge, which serves cocktails and refreshments throughout the day, high speed internet access and a separate check-in and check-out service. Leisure facilities include an outdoor swimming pool, a health and fitness centre and several restaurants. Marco Polo restaurant offers traditional French cuisine, while Le Café St Germain serves guests with international delicacies. For oriental and American grills, head to the Palmaraie Grill and Bua Khao offers excellent Thai cuisine.
