If your heart sinks at this point, fearing this means the hotel is a triumph of style over substance, rest assured: the care and attention given to the look is matched by the service; and comfort is never sacrificed for style.
All rooms, whether standard, deluxe or suite, are large and comfortably furnished with large beds, satelite television, mini-bar, air-conditioning and 'plinth' sofa. Clean, modern design, with the use of white walls and dark wood, creates a cool feel in contrast to the heat of the day outside.
Moving outside, the ornamental pools scattered throughout the spacious grounds contribute to the peaceful, relaxed ambience that makes The Chedi such a wonderful place to stay. Paths lead to the two swimming pools and on to the private sandy beach. So that sunbathers don't have to stir themselves too much, both pools have full service bars. One has a beach bar feel (and for those wishing to tone up for the beach, the fully equipped gym is next door), while the other leads out from the hotel itself and is transformed at night into a stylish evening bar, with a stunning outlook across the beautifully lit pool and out to sea.
This night-time transformation flows through the whole property and the mood changes. The cool white walls of the day are bathed in subtle hues using light and shadow to create a warm, relaxed atmosphere. The excellent restaurant (a deserved winner of many awards) becomes the focal point. The concept is unusual. The kitchen is split into four open kitchens with each specialising in a particular cuisine - Asian, Arabian, Indian & Western (with a particular emphasis on pastries and puddings) - and guests can mix and match from the extensive menu as the mood takes them. It is advisable to book for dinner, as the restaurant's excellent reputation means it is often full.

Deluxe Room: The 60 rooms line the two storey Chedi wing. First floor rooms have views to the ocean or to the mountains. Ground floor rooms enjoy the tranquil view of the water gardens. Deluxe Rooms have all the facilities of the Superior Rooms and are larger, have two sinks in the bathroom, a larger shower and additional storage space.
Chedi Club Suites: Are closer to the beach and are spread through the grounds with single or two storey ‘villas’ containing one or two suites (the single storey ‘villas’ have a domed ceiling in the bedroom). In addition to the facilities in the Deluxe Rooms, each of the large suites has a separate sitting room and bedroom, with satellite television in both rooms, CD player in the bedroom (bring own CDs) and larger bathroom with black marble sunken bath and separate shower. Each suite also has either a private balcony or terrace. Suite guests also have access to the ‘Chedi library’ with free internet access, complimentary mini-bar, laundry and evening cocktails in the ‘Club Floor’ lounge.
