independent tour
from Amman to the Red Sea Day 1: Arrival at Amman International Airport and transfer to chosen hotel. Day 2: Morning city tour of Amman, visiting the Roman Theatre, Citadel, Archaeology and Folklore Museums, old and modern Amman. Following an afternoon at leisure dinner is taken at Kan Zaman Village, with folk song entertainment, and a chance to browse among its craft workshops. Day 3: Today we visit Pella (Tabaket Fahel) - richest of its architectural remains, in its delightful natural setting of rolling green plains, lush plantations and forest hills. On a clear day you can look across the valley to the Mediterranean coast. Continue to Um Quais, Gedara of the Bible (Mathew 8:28-34), for a spectacular view of the Sea of Galilee, the Yarmouk River and the Golan Heights. Return to Amman late afternoon. Day 4: A late morning tour of Jerash, the remarkable and best preserved Roman city in Jordan, to visit its theatres, temples, triumphal arches and colonnaded streets. This is followed by a tour of Ajloun, noted for its 12th century Saracen castle built as protection against the Crusaders. Continue to the lowest spot on earth to experience floatation in the waters of the Dead Sea. Overnight at the Dead Sea. Day 5: En route to Petra, via the King's Way, visiting Madaba, with the oldest mosaic map of the Holy Land and its Mosaic School, Mt Nebo and the alleged burial site of Moses overlooking the Dead Sea and Jordan Valley. On then, through the magnificent scenery of Wadi Mujib, to visit the Crusader Castle at Al Karak. Overnight in Petra. Day 6: A full day to visit the renowned site of Petra, the city carved into the rose-red Sharah Mountains by the Nabateans. Walk through the Siq, a narrow, winding fissure between the cliffs, to reach the Treasury, the Roman Theatre, and other monuments. Athletic types may wish to climb up to the Monastery. Second night in Petra. Day 7: Wadi Rum Desert - a short ride in a 4x4 vehicle to admire the awesome moon-like landscape where scenes for 'Lawrence of Arabia' were filmed. Time permitting, a short visit will be included to Aqaba, Jordan's only sea port. Return to overnight in Amman. Day 8: Transfer to Amman International Airport for return flight to London. Airport taxes are included in these prices. Low season is
between 15th January - 15th March and 1st June and 15th September.
High season is between 16th March - 31st May and 16th September and
31st October.
