Extra nights can be added at either end. This tour can be combined with other arrangements, and would work particularly well preceded by a full or southbound Coastal Voyage. Itinerary...

DAY 1. Fly to Bergen (see page 26). Transfer to Clarion Admiral Hotel. Join your tour escort and fellow-travellers for dinner.
1 night Half-board – Radisson SAS Hotel Norge, Bergen.

DAY 2. After breakfast you depart by coach for Voss, and the descent into the Nærøy Valley, passing the famous Stalheim Canyon to the fjordside village of Flam. From there you ascend 2,838 feet in less than an hour on the amazing Flam Railway to Myrdal. On the descent back to Flam there will be photo opportunities with magnificent waterfalls and mountain scenery. From Flam you join the m.v. Lady Elizabeth for a 2-hour cruise on the narrow Aurlands and Nærøy Fjords – both branches of the Sognfjord – the longest and deepest fjord in the world. Relax on the sun deck or in the comfortable lounge and enjoy the breathtaking scenery. You will disembark in Gudvangen, at the head of the Nærøyfjord and rejoin your coach for the onward journey over the Vik mountains to Vangsnes, for the short ferry trip to the beautiful resort of Balestrand. 2 nights Half-board – Kviknes Hotel, Balestrand

DAY 3. A day at leisure to enjoy the beauty and nature of the fjords. Relax on the terrace, visit the lovely Church and Art Gallery, hire a bicycle or rowing boat, or take a walk and enjoy the fresh mountain air. A walking tour of Balestrand with its historic buildings and other interesting sites is also possible.

DAY 4. Depart hotel by ferry for a one-hour cruise along the fjord to Fjærland. Continue by coach to the lovely Nordfjord, with a detour at Olden to visit the Briksdal Glacier. The journey up to the Glacier is made in open cars, to give you the best views. A typical Norwegian lunch will then be served in sight of the glacier. Your journey then continues to Hellesylt, where you board the ferry for a one-hour cruise on the spectacular Geirangerfjord, passing some magnificent waterfalls. 1 night Half-board – Union Hotel, Geiranger.

DAY 5. Ascend the famous serpentine road with amazing views of the fjord below, before crossing the rugged Grotli mountains to Lom, and thence descending through the Gudbrandsdal Valley to Lillehammer, for lunch. After lunch the journey continues alongside Lake Mjosa – Norway’s largest lake, to Oslo and Holmenkollen, with its world-famous skijump offering unforgettable views of the city and Oslo fjord far below. 1 night Half-board – Holmenkollen Park Hotel, Oslo.

DAY 6. Morning at leisure before transfer to Oslo airport for homeward flight.
