Voluntourism...
- Does the idea of using your own skills and experiences to
make a real difference appeal to you?
- We would love to discuss your ideas in more detail and help you to give a
little and gain a lot.
- Why not take the first step to making 2011 a year to remember?
Would you like to use some of your time on holiday to discover
more about the people and places you’re visiting, and do something really
worthwhile?
Working in partnership with the international award-winning organisation people
and places, we are pleased to introduce to you a unique Volunteerism programme –
a service of integrity to thinking people who want to use their skills and
experience to make a difference in the world.
You will be able to engage with local organisations who work with their
communities to build effective projects – projects which support educational
programmes, health and social care, wealth creation and much more – in South
Africa, India, Peru and Morocco, to name but a few.
Example of a project you could take part in...
Morocco
Education/Community Project, Imlil, Atlas Mountains
Our project in Morocco is located in Imlil, at the foot of the highest
mountain in North Africa, 60 kilometres from Marrakech. The international
award-winning Kasbah du Toubkal has worked closely with the local Berber
community since 1996. Education, healthcare and wealth creation are the focus of
their work in one of the most beautiful but fragile national parks in North
Africa.
Location
Imlil - at the foot of the highest mountain (Jbel Toubkal) in North Africa -
60 kilometres from Marrakech.
The Project
The international award-winning Kasbah du Toubkal has worked closely with
the local Berber community, founding Association Bassin d’Imlil in 1996 and
Education for All in 2006. Education, healthcare and wealth creation are the
focus of their work in one of the most beautiful but fragile national parks in
Africa.
How will you give a little and gain a lot?
• Learn from our experts about the cultural, social and economic context of
education and healthcare in the villages of the High Atlas mountains.
• Meet girls from these villages who are now able to access an education whilst
living in boarding houses built and run by Education for All.
• Walk to remote villages and stay in a luxury trekking lodge.
• Do something worthwhile – rest assured that your short time with the projects
will make a difference and your money will be used sustainably.
• Gain an understanding from experts of the contradictions between conservation
and development in this stunning but geographically complex and harsh
environment.
• Understand the challenges of healthcare provision in the villages we will
visit.

Recommended Trip Extensions
Ideas for extending the programme to create the ultimate meaningful luxury
travel experience:
• Marrakech - discover fascinating history of Al Badi Palace, the vitality of
Djema el Fna with its musicians, acrobats and snake charmers.
• Extend your trip with a stay at La Mamounia, Marrakech. Feted as the
‘loveliest spot in the world’ by none other that Sir Winston Churchill, this
Arabian Nights fantasy is sure to inspire.
