Dave in our office arranged his daughters wedding this year in the beautiful city of Dubrovnik in Croatia. Getting married abroad can sometimes be expensive and ceremonies operate on what seems like a conveyor-belt operation...one in, one out. Not in Dubrovnik. The cost of the wedding itself cost less for Dave than if his daughter was to marry in the UK. The quality of the accommodation, historic and romantic setting and unique ceremony onboard a boat in the harbour proved to be a great success and is highly recommended.

Dad - we want to get married abroad, somewhere different not on a beach with lots of other weddings taking place but somewhere romantic, a day we will always remember - can you help us ?

First thoughts - check the bank balance! Oh dear not good! What can I find for them? All the wedding destinations seem so much the same and so expensive and then a thought - why not try one of the many beautiful cities in Europe. Paris...Rome...Venice. After a great deal of discussion and research we agreed on the wonderful city of Dubrovnik in Croatia.

What a fantastic decision that turned out to be! We stayed at The Grand Villa Argentina just outside the walls of this fantastic medieval city and with the help of a local ground handler the day went like clockwork. My daughter got married on a boat just outside the harbour and you can imagine the stir that they caused by walking through the old town in their wedding outfits (more than Victoria & David Beckham on their arrival into Los Angeles!). The boat then sailed to the beautiful island of Sipan which took about two hours for a fantastic meal which went on for hours. On the way back the boat was followed by dolphins and we arrived back into Dubrovnik early evening - a truly magnificent day.

Then of course the dreaded day - time to pay the bill!!! To say I was pleasantly surprised would be an understatement compared to the cost of getting married here in the UK it really was considerably cheaper, obviously we had the cost of our 'holiday' on top of this but it was still fantastic value and a real 'quality' event
